I had collected some Asian-style fabrics over the last few years, including a pack of charm squares and a bundle of fat quarters. I combined those fabrics with some basic black to make this quilt. The original pattern, from a quilting magazine, used much larger pieces and made a larger quilt. I modified the pattern so that I could use nickel/charm squares. I used one of the mildly variegated thread choices in the LAVA line (from Superior Threads) and did a Sashiko-inspired quilting pattern.
