Flowers ...

Had a chance to work in the quilt room this afternoon. I worked on the trapunto flowers in the foreground of the Celebrate Spring! panel that I'm working on.

I'm glad that I invested in the magnifying glass set that Bernina offers as attachments for their machines. They make the detailed outlining, and the micro-stippling much easier.

Flower Stitch ... A Grown-up Spirograph

Well, I had a little fun tonight. I hooked up the Flower Stitch attachment to my machine and had some fun experimenting with different flower stitches. It took a little bit of time to get the attachment on the machine properly (needed the adapter foot and a screwdriver). But once it was on - it was FUN, FUN, FUN!! I want to incorporate some flower stitches in my panel work. I purchased this attachment through the Nancy's Notions catalog a few years ago - and had never really played with it.

Here's a video of a Spirograph style flower ...

It was fascinating to watch ... brought back memories of playing with the Spirograph for hours as a kid!!

Savory Tomato Buns ...

Made some savory tomato buns this afternoon. Instead of making it as a loaf of bread, I pulled out the hamburger bun pans (from the King Arthur Flour catalog) and made them in the form of buns. I'm anxious to try them out tomorrow at lunch time. I bought some thinly sliced roast beef from the deli on Tuesday and wanted something more substantial for a sandwich - since white bread tends to be soft and squishy (which is great for PB&J) but not for other things. I'll have to take some pictures of them, although they didn't turn out very photogenic. :)
Did I ever post a picture of this pillow to my other blog? Since I'm not sure, I'll post it here at my new space! The triangles were cut from nickel squares that I received through Keepsake Quilting's monthly nickel/charm square club. The freemotion meander quilting was done in 100 weight silk, like most of my other pillows and wall hangings. It was done on my Bernina Aurora 440.

Some Trapunto ...

I worked on another Valentine's Day wall hanging this past weekend and decided some trapunto work was in order. Hope you can see the dimension on some of the flowers and the flower pot in this picture.

Back from the grocery ...

Had a fairly good savings at Meijer today ... a 33% savings. That's fairly good since it's so hard to get a really high savings rate there because of the dairy, meat, and medications that we need to buy. The roads turned out to be okay.

Slick Roads ...

Was planning on heading out to the grocery today, but it looks pretty wicked outside. The roads in front of the house look pretty clear by now - but it's pretty cold out there. Do I really want to head out there today?

Moving ...

I'm going to be moving my blog to this new space. It'll probably take me a few days to move my content over.
