Fun quilting stuff from Santa …
I know it’s hard for my relatives … I want quilting stuff, and they look at a tiny piece of fabric, or a package of pins, and think “What kind of a present is this?” Here are some of the things that I got for Christmas.

Looking back …
Back in 2007, my maternal grandmother had heart surgery … and was in a rehabilitation facility for Christmas. Our family Christmas was held there at that facility that year so that she could be wheeled down in her wheelchair to be part of the festivities. I made her a quilted heart pillow.
My Dad had double bypass surgery last Tuesday (12/9) and is finally being released from the hospital today. He’s been in the hospital since 12/3 … so he is anxious to get out!

Grand Illusion Winter Mystery Quilt (Quiltville)
I haven’t posted anything to my blog in what seems like f-o-r-e-v-e-r. I started the Grand Illusion Winter Mystery quilt (from Bonnie Hunter’s Quiltville blog). But with my birthday, customer quilts and my Dad having a heart attack on my birthday and his subsequent double bypass surgery – quilting time has been infrequent. I’m doing mine in Civil War reproduction fabrics with shirtings as my white/cream neutral.

Simple & Sweet 10/30/2014
Finished this sweet little piece last night. It’s another of the small kits from Temecula Quilt Co. Not sure where this one is going to go yet --- I’ve got a couple of ideas. It’s a small one, only 11” x 13”. (and yes, the brown triangles flip flop directions in an irregular way according to the pattern)

Scrappy Log Cabin
Loaded this scrappy log cabin onto the frame this afternoon to work on during the OSU game. When I pulled the earlier photos of this quilt top, I couldn’t believe that it has been waiting since July, 2012 for me to quilt it.

Update on current projects
Worked on a couple of projects the last few days.
Harvest Rows is still on the machine … depending on how things go tomorrow, I may be able to finish it up.
Redware & Harvest was waiting for the binding to be finished in this picture – but it’s now complete and waiting for a label and final photo.

Even more BOM catch up
I didn’t like the #9 block that I did for the Globetrotting BOM on Wednesday, so I just made this one in different colors.

More BOM catch up …
Ooh-Rah BOM … Block #9. Lots of pieces (44) in this block … wouldn’t want to make an entire quilt out of this block – although it would be stunning wouldn’t it?
and for the Globetrotting BOM … blocks #8 and #9. I may end up re-doing block 9 because I think it came out a little too dark.
Time to catch up on some BOM blocks …
Where did July and August go? I had soooo much going on that I’m behind on some of the block-of-the-month blocks. Trying to catch up!
For the Aurifil BOM – blocks 8 and 9
And the Ooh-Rah BOM … block 8

Black and Red and Gold All Over
Finished up this hexie quilt top this evening. Not sure how I’ll be quilting it yet. This was another one of the amazing kits that I had purchased at Good Wives Co. It was in Marion, OH but unfortunately closed a few months ago. So sad :(

2 Blue Chickens!
Well, I couldn’t stop myself – I made two more chicken pincushions. This time – as stuffed toys for my nephews. Jake (4½) loved his and we immediately named him Blueberry. However little Jack (2½) wasn’t as impressed and threw it at me!

Candy Coated
Worked on quilting my Candy Coated quilt today. I loaded the quilt on Saturday and so when I got down to my studio, I was ready to begin on Sunday afternoon.
Here’s the quilt draped on the frame. (before the binding was turned and stitched down) I used a simple geometric design that I created in Art & Stitch.
Here’s a different camera angle with the light hitting it just right – making it easier to see the stitching.
While watching TV on Sunday evening, I finished the binding.

This week in my quilting life …
Finished up the piecing on my Candy Coated quilt top. Work on this had kind of stalled while I decided exactly how big I wanted to make it. It’s a modern quilt, but I did it in reproduction fabrics. The colors are mostly purples, blues and creams. I decided to make it about 40” x 60”.
I loaded one of the mystery quilts that I did a few months ago onto the longarm this week too. Lots of continuous curve ruler work, and some fun flowers with the Pro-Stitcher.
