String-Pieced Table Mat – Day 2

I decided to do 16 units, not 24 … I like the current size.  All of these units are put together, but I need to pick out some of the stray threads yet.  If I have time on Monday I have to figure out what color to use on the binding!

String-Pieced Table Mat–Day 1

I look forward to the little kitted treasures that arrive every other month in the mail as part of the Sorority Club at Little Quilts.  This month it was a fun little kit for a string pieced table mat/runner.  I wasn’t sure when (or if) I would do this one because I’m not overly fond of paper piecing – but hey, that’s part of what this club is about … trying new things, having fun, etc.  Here are four units … there are supposed to be about 28, but I think I’m just going to do 24.  We’ll see!

Ohio Star Potholder Update

Our Ohio Star potholder project is still moving along.  Our little group of three generally meets about once a week.  Sunda and I piece all of the Ohio Star blocks, I layer them and do all of the quilting, and then prepare and apply the binding to the front.  Janet and Sunda turn the binding and hand stitch it down on the back, and they take turns appliqueing the Ohio shapes on the back. 

With only two potholders left in the OGS bookstore, we have to replenish the supply!  This group may end up going to Indiana next week with one of the people attending the genealogy conference – maybe we’ll sell a few there!

The backs have an appliqued Ohio shape.

Didn’t feel too well today, so I got a late start on this week’s block.

I will have to admit that I wasn’t too keen on seeing this week’s block … After making a gazillion and one potholders with Ohio Star blocks – I’m in the mood for something different.  :)
