A Tuesday Trip!

Had the chance to do two little trips in one day.  I started out by going to the Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses session over at Good Wives Co. in Marion, Ohio this morning.  And then I had to hurry back to meet my friend Steph in Mansfield so that we could head to Findlay, Ohio to one of her doctor’s appointments.  While we were up in that part of the world, we hopped up to Bettsville to the Door Mouse – a nice quilt shop that I’ve had the chance to visit about four times now.  After that it was back down to Findlay for dinner at Max & Erma’s – one of my faves!!!

I tried to be good today and not spend a lot of $$$$  … Just got a few little things.

Tam’s Patch 2013 Block Swap – Borders Added

After I got this week’s A4AQA Block done, I decided to add the borders to this Tam’s Patch Swap quilt top.  I had decided on the turquoise stripe awhile ago – but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to add to the outside of that.  A fun safety pin black/white print is what I finally picked.

Up close you can see the safety pins … but when you look from a distance it takes on a TOTALLY DIFFERENT appearance – a very graphic stripe!  Here’s a close-up of the fussy cut safety pins in the border.  It also gives you a better view of the vibrant turquoise stripe!

I’ll probably go with a black tone-on-tone print for the binding.  But I haven’t made up my mind 100% yet.

Verna’s Quilt

My friend Sunda hired me to quilt her grandmother’s quilt top a couple of weeks ago, and I asked her permission to post some pictures.  The quilt top was made by Verna (Weekley) Skinner Dennewitz in the early 1950’s she believes.  I used a Baptist Fan pattern, with a very light tan thread on top, and a medium-dark cornflower blue thread in the bobbin.

Aiming For Accuracy Quilt-Along – Re-post

I’ve redone block one in different colors, and taken new (brighter and more accurate) photos of blocks one and two … so I thought I’d re-post them.

We’re moving right along on this block-of-the-month, I can hardly believe that it’s the first weekend of July already!

Grandmother’s Choice BOW–Week 45
